Martin Luther King, Jr. said this in a speech in 1963.
マーチン･ルーサー･キング2世は、1963年のスピーチでこう語った。
He had a dream that is important to all of us.
彼には、我々みなにとって、とても重要な夢があった。
His dream was equality for all Americans, black and white.
彼の夢は、すべてのアメリカ人、黒人と白人の平等だった。
He was a person that lived for this dream.
彼は、この夢に向かって生きた人物だった。
He fought for it.
彼はそれ（その夢）のために戦った。
And he died for it.
そして、かれはそれ（その夢）のために亡くなった。
In those days, there were many things that African-American could not do.
当時、アフリカ系アメリカ人がすることのできない（使用できない）ものがたくさんあった。
There were toilets that they could not use.
彼らの使うことのできない、トイレがあった。
There were seats on buses that they could not use.
彼らが座れない、バスの座席があった。
There were even drinking fountains that they could not use.
彼らが使えない、水飲み場さえあった。
African-Americans' lives were separate and unequal.
アフリカ系アメリカ人の生活は、切り離され不平等だった。
But people were fighting against this.
しかし、人々はこのことにたいして戦った。
Mrs Rosa Parks was one of them.
ローザ･パークス夫人は、そうした人たちの一人だった。
She had great courage.

Mrs Parks was a black woman who always took the bus home from work.

One day she took a seat near the white section.
ある日、彼女は白人専用区画の近くの座席に座った。
Soon that section filled up.
すぐにその白人専用区画は満席になった。
The driver shouted, "Give your seat, or I'll call the police."
運転士は、「席をゆずれ、さもないと警察を呼ぶぞ」と大声をあげた。
Shi did not move.
彼女は動こうとしなかった。
The police came and arrested her.
警察がやって来て、彼女を逮捕した。
Martin Luther King heard this news.
マーチン･ルーサー･キングはこの知らせを聞いた。
He said, "Let's support her. Let's stop using the buses."
彼は、「彼女を支援しよう。バスを使うのをやめよう。」と言った。
They started a boycott which lasted for more than a year.
人々は1年以上も続くことになるボイコットを開始した。
Finally, they won the right to take any seat on buses.
ついに、彼らはバスでどの座席にも座れる権利を勝ちとった。
After this, more and more people a joined the civil rights movement led by King.
この後、ますます多くの人々がキングによって導かれた公民権運動に参加した。
In 1964 he received the Novel Peace Prize.
1964年に彼はノーベル平和賞を受賞した。
Four years later,he was shot and killed.
4年後、彼は凶弾にたおれた（撃たれて殺された）。
He died, but he left words which we will always remember.
彼は亡くなったが、彼は私たちがいつでも思い出すだろう言葉を残した。

One day the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be abel to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

His dream lives on.
